What is thumb?

Thumb is an SMS marketing service, created by Bluefrog and Frank's Ice Store. It was designed with the charity sector in mind, but is equally applicable to the commercial sector (for supporter, read customer).

Thumb allows you to use SMS or MMS to communicate with your supporters. With a little imagination, which we supply, Thumb can revolutionise the way you get through to your donors – and the way they get through to you.

With Thumb, you can have realtime text conversations with your supporters – wherever they are. You can answer any questions or concerns they might have. You can send them pictures or movies of your work in action. Most importantly, you can really be a part of their world. You can show them things that make them feel happy, proud, touched – or so outraged about an issue that they take action immediately.

Using thumb with other media

Thumb doesn't work on its own – it complements above the line work, DM and web to make a big splash. It has huge potential. We've developed a communications programme with an SMS recruitment and retention element. We believe it will prove to be a key way of interesting younger donors in giving to charity.
